Sid Meier's Pirates is a 1987 computer game developed and published by MicroProse. The game simulates the life of a pirate during the golden age of piracy (16th, 17th and 18th century) in the Spanish Main.
The game is a single-player game in which the player takes the role of a privateer, but can choose to turn to piracy at any given time.
Pirates! were a very popular game in their time. A remake of the game was released in 2004 and was also named Sid Meier's Pirates (2004).
