| Most recent article: Google Buys youtube.com by: Funsocks 2006-10-15 12:12:26 YouTube.com was made by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who were all employees of Pay Pal. On Friday the 13th of October google.com announced that it was going to buy YouTube for $1.65 billion in stock. Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google said "The YouTube team has built an exciting and powerful media platform that complements Google's mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our companies share similar values; we both always put our users first and are committed to innovating to improve their experience. Together, we are natural partners to offer a compelling media entertainment service to users, content owners and advertisers." 100 million videos are veiwed on YouTube daily! Chad Hurley, the co-founder of YouTube said "We are excited to have the resources to move faster than ever before" Others say that buying YouTube is a bad move for Chad, Steve, and Jawed. "Others are sceptical about whether the kind of content YouTube offers will attract advertisers in the long term. In-Stat, the US research firm, recently predicted that the user-generated content market would only hit $850m in value by 2010." read more... | |

Articles: The new IPod Nano? (Funsocks)
| Most recent article: The new IPod Nano? by: Funsocks 2006-10-12 00:00:00 The Ipod captured us on October 21st, 2001. Was it the 5GB hard drive? Was it the colors? Interface? Well, whatever captured us, it did a pretty damn good job. Mac now has a new Ipod to throw at us. They claim it is "completely remastered".
"A thinner design. Five stylish colors. A brighter display. Up to 24 hours of battery life. Just about the only thing that hasn?t changed is the name. In 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB models starting at $149, iPod nano puts up to 2,000 songs in your pocket"
-Macintosh
I'm spossed to pay 150$ to 200$ on a brighter screen, a thnner body, and more colors? It does have 24 hour battery life now, but I don't think it is wroth a whole new Ipod.
If you already have an Ipod, don't waste your money and upgrade unless your a die-hard Ipod fan. If your buying a new one though, go for this one. read more...

Articles: Radioactive Isotopes Please (Mario)
 Happy Halloween!! (Mario)
| Most recent article: Radioactive Isotopes Please by: Mario 2006-12-07 11:03:38 Did you now that you can buy Polonium 210 over the internet? All you need is a credit card and you need to be a resident of USA. It's 100% legal. One pack of Polonium 210 costs $69.
Other nuclear materials available are Cadmium 109, Barium 133, Cobalt 57 and many others. They don't keep this stuff in stock so your order will be directly shipped from the nuclear reactor.
Before you start buying all this stuff, you should know that the amount of Polonium 210 or any other radioactive isotope is very small any you would need about 15 000 packs to get the lethal dosage. And that would cost you around $1 000 000. They don't sell these in big quantities. That's why it's legal. :)
If you would still like to buy some Polonium, click here.
PS: They also sell mugs and T-shirts. read more...

Articles: ''Beam us up Scotty'' - Science fiction or not? (Mario)
| Most recent article: ''Beam us up Scotty'' - Science fiction or not? by: Mario 2006-10-16 12:12:27 Team of scientists led by Eugene Polzik at the Niels Bohr Institute at Copenhagen University in Denmark have been able to teleport a macroscopic molecule containing billions of atoms to a distance of 0.5 m (1.6 feet).
Their method involves teleportation between light and matter.
First teleportation was conducted in 2002 when a group of scientist teleported a particle of light to a distance of only few milimeters.
In 2004 scientist teleported atoms to a distance of also 1-2 mm.
We probably won't have teleportation tehnology like the one in Star Trek for a long time, but this important discovery brings us one step closer to it. And maybe one day people will be able to travel from one part of the Earth to another in just few seconds. read more...
